Come join our vibrant community of Ursula Smith Dance Studio Program! Our studio program offers an enriched learning experience for students aged 3-16, combining cultural exploration through dance with the development of discipline and self confidence.

FLEXIBLE PAYMENT OPTIONS

We understand the importance of flexibility for our clients, which is why we offer a variety of class options. Whether you’re looking for a short-term commitment or the option to drop in, we have a program for you. Choose between our 3-month or 5-month programs, or simply drop in for individual classes. Whatever your dance goals may be, we’ve got you covered.

Mrs Ursula Smith and the team she has selected to help with my daughter’s ballet class! My daughter Loooooooooovvvvvveeeeesss her ballet class! I can't quite articulate how lucky I feel to have connected with a dance studio that does so much to celebrate and showcase the talents of the Birmingham community, that introduces new dancers and new audiences to a broad range of European, American, and African dance traditions, and that pushes everyone involved to grow and stretch. Dance classes here (and getting to participate in the show stopping Brown Sugar Nutcracker) has been a fundamentally transformative, confidence- and community-building experience for my daughter. US Dance is a diamond in the rough. I love that this studio owner Ursula Smith has formed is all about resources, opportunities, real technique, and more. Also having a variety of dance genres that are of traditional and non-traditional genres is truly an asset to the community.

Studio Class Descriptions

West African

West African

This class is designed to create an appreciation for history and culture of West African Dance. Students will explore and learn dance techniques to traditional West African rhythms ( Guinea,Mali,Senegal,etc)

Early Childhood

Early childhood program is design for our Little Marvels 2 year old class) to be introduced to dance and music. We organize creative activities and dance (pre-ballet and African) focusing on coordination, rhythm, balance and enhancement of motor skill development

Ballet

Ballet

This class will explore the basics of classical ballet technique. Students will be taught correct body alignment, barre work,center floor and across the floor application using Cecchetti and Vaganova methods.

Liturgical

Liturgical

This class uses various forms of movement such ballet, jazz, African to engage the heart, mind and soul through worship music.Students will learn how to develop their dance language and creative expression.

Jazz

This class will teach fundamentals of jazz techniques such as body alignment, isolations of the body and rhythm. Students will be exposed to various styles of jazz such as Broadway, Urban and Contemporary.

Modern

This class will incorporate many of the foundations of modern dance technique, including Dunham.Horton, and Graham. Dancers will explore new ways of moving in combinations, floor work and improvisation.

A high-energy class that infuses the latest styles of afro beat, breaking, popping, fused with modern, jazz, and African movements.

Our Pre-School programs include our Kreatives I (3 and 4 year old class) Kreatives II ( 5 to 7 year old) Each program is design to introduce and train in jazz, ballet, West African and, tap

Dance Theatre

Musical Theatre class will focus on learning proper dance technique while exploring the various dance styles used in Broadway shows Students will learn performance skills such as connecting with the audience and telling a story through dance and facial expressions.

Turns, Jumps, Leaps

Turns, Jumps, and Leaps class we are offering to help dancers work on these often challenging areas of dance. Classes will be designed to help each dancer identify and work on specific techniques and skill.
